Solid brass and hand-blown glass, engineered to sit close and glow warm — for apartments where every fitting has to earn its square footage.
No sprawling catalogue. Every piece here earns its place on a shelf, a console or a low ceiling — designed as a set that can furnish a whole apartment without repeating itself.
Injection-moulded lamps go light and hollow. Ours don't.
Every base and stem is cast and turned from solid brass — 900 grams to 2.4 kilograms depending on the piece. It sits with the kind of stillness a hollow fitting can't fake, and it ages the way real brass does: a soft, living patina that a lacquered import never develops.
Cast in a Bayswater foundry we've worked with since 2019.Shades are mouth-blown in small batches, which means no two are identical — a faint bubble, a slight variance in the frost. We match diffusion by hand so the light reads even, warm, and never clinical. 2700K colour temperature throughout — the warmest end of the visible spectrum before it tips orange.
Every shade individually pressure-tested before it ships.Isla trained as an interior lighting designer on hospitality fit-outs — restaurants, boutique hotels, the kind of rooms where a single fitting sets the whole mood. She kept getting asked the same question by friends moving into apartments: "where do I even buy a lamp that doesn't look like a lamp shop?"
Metropole Home started as six fittings sold out of a Richmond warehouse, sized specifically for apartment ceiling heights and studio footprints most lighting brands ignore. Every design still has to pass her one test before it ships: would it hold its own in a hotel bar, and would it still make sense on a $600 apartment budget.

"I'd bought three different floor lamps off Facebook Marketplace before this one. This is the first room in my apartment that actually looks finished."
"Heavier than I expected in the best way. The dimmer curve is properly smooth, not the two-setting garbage most lamps ship with."
"Bought the Arden for my reading corner, went back for the wall sconce a month later. My landlord actually complimented it at the inspection."
